Peru’s climates vary to the extremes. From the northwestern coast’s sun-pounding humid heat to the freezing cold found at Lake Titicaca, travellers will encounter all forms of air and temperature.

Over the years since the Amazon Basin has been developed, it has mixed indigenous lore with that of settlers and developed its own rich frontier culture.

On your way from Ica to Lima, you can find the beautiful “poor man’s Galapagos” islands, called the Isla Ballestas. Only an hour from Ica, this trip can run you between S/.30 - S/. 50 soles. I paid S/.50 soles, including the boat ride to the islands. There is a hidden charge of 12 soles, which is a required tourist tax.

Since June 30^th I have been travelling around Peru and it has been such an eventful, fun journey so far. On 13^th July, I visited Lake Titicaca for 2 days and it was the most idyllic, beautiful lake I have ever seen.

I had the pleasure of taking a little adventure to the beautiful oasis of Ica, called Huacachina. It’s on the way to Lima, from Cusco.

Lima is one of the biggest metropolitan centers on the continent. With over 8 million people, you really wonder how the heck everyone can go about every day in those crowded, loud minibuses.
